In the current economic climate, isn’t it more beneficial for me to apply directly to companies for possible opportunities as companies are trying to save on recruitment costs?
In the current climate, unemployment is at it's highest and the market faces a surplus of experienced candidates. Understandably, businesses are looking to save money and often dispense with the services of recruitment companies. However, in our experience, this has proven somewhat shortsighted, as trying to identify the best high-quality talent beyond the overwhelming number of direct applicant CVs and inquiries received directly, requires considerable time, manpower and dedication that will stretch most key decision makers. More and more businesses are realising the huge benefits to working in partnership with a reputable recruitment firm, particularly in the current climate. Do you meet your candidates in person?
We strive to meet all our candidates in person where possible, location permitting. If we are unable to do so, a detailed telephone interview and discussion will be conducted and our clients are made aware of this.
What makes you different to your competitors?
It would be all too easy to answer this with the generic “honesty, genuine, specialists within our field” which of course is absolutely the truth. However, this company was born through a desire to overcome the stigma often associated with recruitment or recruitment firms. Our open, human approach to our business and the rapport we build with our clients and candidates is what makes us different. Consulting with you as individuals, providing tailored solutions and offering extensive, discipline specific, recruitment experience makes all the difference.
Do you reference check your candidates?
Yes, we ask all our candidates to provide us with at least two different reference contacts, whom we will then contact directly. It is imperative that we are able to represent each candidate in the best and most honest light. Occasionally, clients may prefer to reference check the candidate(s) directly themselves, therefore we simply inform the candidates and provide the client with the necessary reference contact details.
How many pages should my CV have?
The CV is your professional marketing tool, information should be concisely written and presented. Ideally, it should be no more than 3 pages maximum. Please see our CV writing tips for further support.
Will it damage my employment opportunities if I take a career break?
This would largely depend upon how long the career break is for and sometimes the reasons behind the break. Many of us need to, choose to or have to take a career break at some point in our careers, for a whole variety of different reasons, professional or personal. Often, a career break can in fact give you a clearer picture of your future career aspirations. Employers may probe into the reasons behind the break but providing the break is no more than 12 months (particularly if pursuing a Sales position as many business often like to have peace of mind that you have current contacts and relationships in place still) than this is not seen as detrimental to your long term career.
In light of the economic climate, has there been a noticeable increase in companies recruiting more recently?
Most definitely yes. We have seen a significant pick up . Companies each have their own strategies to cope with this climate. There are many businesses of course, still very cautious and quite reluctant to recruit. However, there are many who, in this climate, wish to invest in finding the right level of high-quality professionals for their business. This is something we monitor very closely.
How will you identify what opportunities may be right for me?
By listening to you. It's important that we understand your current career status and thoughts and your future aspirations and ideas. We need to know you, your personality, values, strengths and skill set. Meeting you and having regular, effective communication is key to achieving your goal(s).
Will a previous redundancy put me at a disadvantage when pursuing new career opportunities?
There is some stigma surrounding redundancy and company motives, particularly within a Sales environment. However, over the past 12 months, redundancy has been rife across a broad spectrum of sectors and functions and as a result, many companies have had to suffer talent loss. It's all the more important that you are working in partnership with Purple Eclipse and other recruitment specialists you trust. We will have your best interests at heart and focus on your previous experiences, successes and strengths and consult with you to ensure we represent you at the highest level moving forward.
